Edenton - North Carolina's Prettiest Small Town

Tuesday,  July 26

A random house in Edenton

Our first stop was the Penelope Barker House Welcome Center to buy tickets for the 10:30 trolley tour.

The Cupola House is open for tours, but we did not go inside.

After our 50 minute tour, we relaxed on the spacious back porch of the Welcome Center.

On our way to lunch
Lunch at The Downtown Cafe and Soda Shoppe

I had a Big Burger with a side of chips.  It was one of the best burgers I have eaten.

After lunch we drove around town to see the 1767 Chowan County Courthouse.  On our walk to the courthouse lawn, we found the commemorative Edenton Tea Pot.

We then went the Edenton Visitor's Center and saw a 15 minute film.

Edenton has a Fish Hatchery and Aquarium which is a few miles from the Historic District.

Since the weather was so very hot, we did not go walking around the fish pools, but only went to the very small aquarium.  There is not much to look at.

Back in the Historic District to St Paul's Episcopal Church.

By then it was mid afternoon, so we took a break for coffee at Edenton Coffee House.  I got Italian Roast coffee and J. got a Pomegranate Italian Soda.  I also bought a bag of Edenton Blend coffee to take home.  It is very good.

The coffee shop was our last place in Edenton.  We then headed to Washington where our room was reserved for that evening at Magnuson Hotel.

We ate supper at Speedy Wok which was in a shopping center near our hotel.

Washington has a waterfront park where we spent the remainder of our evening.
