High Point Museum

Today my sisters and I took a day trip to the High Point Museum.  I had never been there before.

I thought this was interesting, as it mentioned the founder of Thomasville, John W. Thomas.

We got to see inside this cabin, the Hoggatt House.  Originally, it was located 3 miles away, but was relocated to the grounds of the HPM.

May 7, 2016

Today is the Kentucky Derby and I have no plans to watch it.  However, just because it's going on, and I keep reading about the mint julep that's a traditional drink to have on the day, I decided to make it this year.  Since I don't drink alcoholic beverages, I found a recipe online for a non-alcoholic version.  Now, I have obviously never had the real stuff so I can make no comparisons. I really like the version I made!

For the lemon-lime soda, I used Sprite along with the Ginger Ale.

I made it yesterday and left the mint leaves in.  The mint flavor wasn't that strong when I had it right after it was made.

It was much better today after chilling overnight in the refrigerator.

My mom found this recipe for Kentucky Benedictine Tea Sandwiches.  Since Mother's Day is tomorrow, I made these sandwiches and Lipton loose leaf tea for her and me.
