It's Strawberry Season!

Strawberry season in North Carolina begins at the end of April and runs until the end of May.

Thursday, May 5, my sister and I went to a new to us family owned strawberry farm in Lexington, OL Farms, where we picked and bought two gallons.

In this post, I will be adding all of the strawberry recipes as we make them.

Homemade strawberries and cream oatmeal with flaxseed, and sweetened with a splash of maple syrup.

For Mother's Day, I made a Strawberry Shortcake Cake (Pioneer Woman cookbook).  The frosting in the recipe is with cream cheese; I changed it to homemade whipped cream.

A friend made a strawberry pie with a sugar cookie crust, and homemade whipped cream.  The berries were sourced local from Whitaker Farms in Climax, NC.
